The aim of this discography is to compile all known session information (i.e. date, location, personnel, song titles, timings, composers, arrangers, alternate takes, etc.). The intention is not to list every single reissue of the recordings. A priority has been made to list all original issues. Also listed are common and easily accessible modern reissues. It would be accurate to call this a complete Leo Parker sessionography with a select discography. Future edits may expand on the amount of reissues listed.

Tom Lord’s The Jazz Discography and Jan Evensmo’s Leo Parker solography list Leo Parker as playing alto saxophone on Trummy Young’s February 7, 1944 recording session for the Session label in Chicago (Session 12-010, Hollywood/Talk of the Town). However, Parker is not listed in the band personnel on the record’s label. (The saxophonists are listed as Harry Curtis on alto and Leo Williams on tenor).

Tom Lord’s The Jazz Discography lists an unissued alternate take of My Kinda Love as appearing on Vernon MVM 504 (“That Everlovin’ ‘Sassy’”) and on Saga ERO 8016 (“Sassy Sings”). I have auditioned the Vernon LP, and My Kinda Love does not sound to be an alternate. I have not yet auditioned the Saga LP.
Most discographies have listed Leo Parker as present on the live recordings of Dizzy Gillespie’s big band from the Spotlite Club in June of 1946. These recordings have been issued in various forms over the years. But the most recent and perhaps the most researched release of these recordings (Dizzy Gillespie Big Band, Showtime at the Spotlite, 52nd Street, New York City, June 1946, Uptown UPCD 27.53-54) lists the baritone saxophonist as Sol Moore.

Leo Parker solos on all selections.
Location needs confirmation. Tom Lord’s The Jazz Discography lists this session as taking place in New York.
Due to some mislabeling on Onyx 201 (“The Foremost!”) which includes some of Leo Parker’s recordings from this session, there has been discographical confusion with regards to this session. On this LP, there are three takes of a tune listed as On The House which are actually the three takes of Leo Leaps In from this session. (Leo Parker did record his original composition titled On The House on his March 23, 1948 session, but that is another composition altogether.) The following track is the take of Solitude from this session, but it has been mistakenly listed as an alternate take in Tom Lord’s The Jazz Discography. The next track is the master take of Rolling with Parker (titled here as Rollin’ With Leo). And the final track is this session’s recording of Woody (titled here as Symphony In Sid).
